Meanwhile, in the wasteland of the outsiders. Inside a den, Kovu and Vitani as cubs are fighting. Kovu is on Vitani, and she is trying to push Kovu off her. Both of them grunt and make noises. "Kovu!" growled a voice. The two turned their attention to a lioness. "Yes, mother?" asked Kovu. "Get off Vitani! It's time to catch some field mice." said Zira. Then she walked off. Kovu got off Vitani and they ran out of the den giggling and laughing. (evilly and playfully). Zira was outside the den, trying to catch or look for field mice. Kovu and Vitani are slamming their paws on the ground trying to catch some field mice too. Then, a lioness came to distract Zira. The lioness had a smirk on her face. "Well well well, what do we have here?" asked the lioness. Zira turned around and saw her. "Kayla! Go back and train. I'm busy hunting some field mice!" yelled Zira. "Uh, I think we'd better get going..." said a lion teen as he slinked off behind Kovu and Vitani. They followed him and ran off. "Well, as a reward I give you..." the lioness pounced on Zira but missed. Kayla rolled on the ground and laughed. "What was that for?!" she asked. "Well, I'd better get off to my 'training' now that you've mentioned it." said Kayla. Then she walked off. Zira rolled her eyes and groaned. "Please pardon my daughter's behavior." said a voice. Zira turned around and saw a brown lioness. "No, Athena. I will teach her a lesson!" She growled.

"But, Zira! She's still growing up. Please give her some time." pleaded Athena. Zira groaned again. "Fine, but next time she won't be forgiven. Do you understand me now?"
she asked in a demanding voice. Athena nodded and walked off. "Stupid lionesses. I hate them! They will get what they deserve..." said Zira. Then she walked to Vitani and Kovu. The teen lion was with them too. "Mother? How did it go with you and Kayla?" he asked. "It went well, Nuka..." lied Zira with an evil grin. "Mother, how are you going to cope with those lionesses?" asked Vitani. "Don't worry, Vitani. Those lionesses will get what they deserve in the end." said Zira.
